THE ARTIST AND PROJECT

Monique Jenkinson (aka Fauxnique)

Monique Jenkinson is a dancer and performance artist whose work is informed by traditions of queer/feminist theory and the cultural currents of fashion, design and nightlife.

CounterPULSE

CounterPULSE is a theater, performance space, community center, and gallery that serves as an incubator for the creation of socially relevant, community-based art and culture. In pursuit of greater breadth and depth in public discourse, we commission and present new work, host weekly discussions and performance salons, and fiscally sponsor more than 30 arts, media and cultural projects. CounterPULSE acts as a catalyst for art and action; creating a forum for the open exchange of art and ideas, sparking transformation in our communities and our society. We work towards a world that celebrates diversity of race, class, cultural heritage, artistic expression, ability, gender identity & sexual orientation. We bring people together in an environment that is physically and economically accessible to everyone.

Dancers’ Group

Dancers’ Group promotes the visibility and viability of dance. We serve San Francisco Bay Area artists, the dance community and audiences through programs and services that are as collaborative and innovative as the creative process. As the primary dance service organization in the Bay Area, we help artists produce work, build audiences, and connect with their community through artist-focused programs and services including presenting opportunities, funding resources, fiscal sponsorship and In Dance publication.

This project has been generously funded by The James Irvine Foundation’s Innovation Fund.
